The Program

Our programs use specific instructional strategies that are directly linked to characteristics of Autism and our individual student's strengths and interests. Our classroom activities are based on the cognitive, social, communication, and the sensory and behavioural needs of our children.

Woodview Learning Centre Class Creed
(recited daily by our students)

Woodview Learning Centre is a place where each person and animal makes a difference.
Everyone, regardless of age or gender, race, or place of origin has the right:

        - to be safe in our school environment,
        - to be treated with respect,
        - to learn and play in a caring environment,
        - to be the best learner that he/ she can be.

        I will make a difference!

Skill development is interwoven into all curriculum areas. Skill development includes:

  • organization,
  • independence,
  • individual learning style,
  • communication / language,
  • play / social / leisure,
  • cognitive / functional academics,
  • fine / gross motor skills,
  • self-help, and
  • adaptive behaviours.

Homework is an expected part of the WLC Curriculum.

We learn / share / socialize in large class size groupings and meet for our academics in small class groups.

All programs are designed and monitored by Mrs. Dale McLean, Program Manager. Please contact her at dmclean@woodview.ca for further details.
